A year at the Botanic Gardens

Last Christmas we recieved an annual pass to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. It was without a doubt the best gift we got. I have lost count of how many times we've gone there this year. And seeing the changes through the seasons has been an absolute delight. I'd try to pick my favourite season but it's too hard.

Spring had snowdrops before we'd seen them anywhere else, and the prettiest of blossoms.

Summer had lovely picnics and hay bale mazes and endless hours in the park.

Autumn had the most amazing colours and magical light.

But even in Winter when its drab and grey everywhere else you can still go inside the glass house and get a much needed nature fix with the year round flowers that grow there, and of course the fish. We can't ever go and not see the fish!

And there are always, always, Butterflies. We can't forget the Butterflies.

There is so much to see and do at the Gardens, there are still parts of it we haven't explored and each time we go we discover something new. Some of our favourite things are the glass house, the amazing park, the fairy woods, the bee hives, the butterfly house, the ghost forest of fallen trees, and not forgetting all of the pretty flowers as far as the eye can see. Its a beautiful place to explore and if you love photography like I do, then you'll never tire of visiting as there is always something beautiful waiting to be photographed.

But don't just take my word for it, here's what my children had to say on their year at the Gardens;

"Stick Man" is what the kids call this impressive sculpture...

The friendliest Robin.

One of the things i've really enjoyed has been all the events throughout the year; craft fairs, food fairs, and so many educational activities for the children to get involved with, including Welly Wednesdays which our Youngest really enjoys going along to.

If you are trying to decide what to buy for a family this Christmas, or what to put on your own wish list, then I guarantee an annual pass to the Botanic Gardnes will be well received. I know another pass for next year is at the top of our list.  I'll leave you with some of my favourite photos from our amazing year of Garden fun, and I hope you get to go visit there real soon.
