Lana and Rob's Wedding at Cardiff City Hall
On Friday 4th September Lana and Rob got married at Cardiff City Hall. They had to change their original plans quite a lot due to the covid restrictions, but they managed to pull off the most amazing day. Even though it wasn’t what they had originally envisioned it was a day full of so much love and happiness, and I am so glad I could be a part of it. A much needed tonic in these uncertain times.
If you are having to adjust your wedding plans and need some inspiration, then read on to see just how Lana and Rob managed it.
The Ceremony at City Hall
The wedding ceremony was held at Cardiff City Hall. They could only have 10 people in the room (including me) but all of their other guests met them outside before the ceremony to wish them well. Lana walked over from the Hilton Hotel, where she had stayed the night before, and all of the guests had arranged themselves perfectly, outside city hall, into a socially distanced aisle for her to walk down to meet her groom. It was such a beautiful thing for her Dad to still be able to walk her down the aisle, and for all their guests to get to share that moment with them before they went inside.
A Picnic in Bute Park
After the ceremony Lana and Rob’s guests were waiting for them outside to greet them with confetti. They then all walked over to Bute Park where they had a socially distanced picnic. Each household at the wedding received their own bag full of picnic food to share, and Lana and Rob were able to go around each group to spend some time with their guests. Not something you can always do at a large wedding. An outdoor picnic was the perfect way to be able to spend time with all of their guests whilst still keeping everyone safe.
Couple’s Portraits
One positive thing about having a small wedding is there is a lot more time in the day for couple’s photos. We were able to have some photos around City Hall and Bute Park, as well as at the beach before the evening reception.
A Garden Reception in Rhoose
After the picnic, Lana and Rob went with their close family and friends to a garden party at Lana’s family home in Rhoose. There was a barbecue and an amazing cake, as well as sparklers and speeches. Even one of their guests from overseas, who had been unable to attend, was able to do a virtual speech so he could still be a part of their day. It was such a relaxed and fun wedding. The smaller numbers didn’t dampen that at all, and if anything it just made for a much more intimate and special day.
I am so glad Lana and Rob decided to still go ahead with their wedding. During these strange times of so much uncertainty, it was wonderful to be able to part of something so joyous, and to see love being celebrated.
